Submission Instructions

Prosthesis accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. The cover letter must explain the paper’s significance and fit to the journal’s scope and include the statement that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere or previously published.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for this article type. Abstract should be around 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must contain the headings Background/Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must include Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion, with Conclusions optional. Three to ten keywords must be provided after the abstract, and research articles with several authors must include an author contributions paragraph.
References References may be in any consistent style at submission and must be numbered in order of appearance with in-text numbers in square brackets and listed individually at the end.
Figures & Tables Graphics in Microsoft Word manuscripts must be inserted in the main text after the paragraph of first citation. Figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order of appearance and each must have a short explanatory title and caption.

Review

Cover Letter A cover letter must be included with the submission. Cover letter must explain the paper's significance, place it in the context of existing work, explain its fit with the journal scope, and include the statement confirming the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere or previously published.
Abstract An abstract is included as part of the front matter for Review manuscripts. Systematic reviews must have a structured abstract of around 250 words. Systematic reviews require a structured abstract. Systematic review abstracts must use the headings Background/Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Review manuscripts include front matter with Title, Author list, Affiliations, Abstract, and Keywords, may include Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Relevant Sections, Discussion, Conclusions, and Future Directions, and must include back matter with Author Contributions, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, and References. Three to ten keywords must follow the abstract, and the manuscript must include a statement clarifying who was responsible for ideation, literature search and/or data analysis, and drafting and revising the work.
References References may be submitted in any style if formatting is consistent throughout. References must be numbered in order of appearance, cited in square brackets before punctuation, listed individually at the end, and include author name or names, source title, article or chapter title where required, year, volume and issue where appropriate, pagination, and the full title.
Figures & Tables In Microsoft Word manuscripts, graphics must be inserted in the main text after the paragraph of first citation. Figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order of appearance and each must have a short explanatory title and caption.

Scoping Review

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. The cover letter must explain the paper’s significance and fit with the journal’s scope and include the statement that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere or published in another journal.
Abstract An abstract is required as part of the front matter for Review manuscripts.
Manuscript Scoping Review manuscripts must be submitted as Review manuscripts and must include a Methods section with a statement about following PRISMA guidelines and registration information if available. The manuscript must include 3 to 10 keywords, a PRISMA flow diagram in the main text, and a statement specifying who was responsible for ideation, literature search and/or data analysis, and drafting and revising the work.
References References may be in any consistent style at submission, but they must be numbered in order of appearance, listed individually at the end, include the full title, and use square-bracketed in-text citations placed before punctuation.
Figures & Tables For Microsoft Word submissions, figures must be inserted in the main text after the paragraph of first citation. Figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order of appearance and each must have a short explanatory title and caption.

Feature Paper

Manuscript Feature Paper submissions must be substantial original Article manuscripts that involve several techniques or approaches and provide an outlook for future research directions and possible research applications. The manuscript must include keywords and declare any use of generative AI tools in the Materials and Methods section.
References References may be submitted in any citation style provided formatting is consistent throughout. References must be numbered in order of appearance, cited in square brackets before punctuation, and listed individually at the end with full titles and standard bibliographic details.
