Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for submission. Cover letter must include the manuscript title, corresponding author, all authors, manuscript type, a paragraph on the manuscript’s significance and suitability for the journal, a statement that all authors approved the submission, notice of any prior consideration by the journal, and any graphics needing special attention.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be limited to 300 words.
Manuscript Manuscript must be organized in the order Title, Authors, Affiliations, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Experimental (Materials and Methods), Results, Discussion, Conclusions, supporting information paragraph if any, Acknowledgments, References, and Table of Contents graphic. Manuscript must include a graphical summary for the table of contents, four to six keywords, a supporting information paragraph after the Conclusions section if applicable, and disclosure of AI tool use in the Acknowledgments or Methods as appropriate.
References References must follow ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering style. References must be cited in consecutive numerical order as superscripts outside punctuation, include all author names without “et al.,” include article titles and DOIs for journal articles, use CASSI journal abbreviations, and exclude notes or commentary.
Figures & Tables Figures and tables should preferably be embedded near their first mention in the manuscript text, but may instead be placed at the end of the manuscript. Each graphic must be clearly labeled with a brief caption and each table must have a brief descriptive title.

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for Letters. The cover letter must include the manuscript title, corresponding author, all other authors, manuscript type, a paragraph on significance and suitability, a statement that all authors approved the submission, any prior consideration by the journal, and any graphics needing special attention.
Abstract Letters must include an abstract. The abstract must be less than 100 words. The abstract is described as a brief abstract with no structured format specified.
Manuscript Letters are limited to 3 published pages, about 2500 words, and 6 double-spaced word-processed pages of text. Letters must flow continuously without separate subsections. The manuscript must include a graphical summary for the table of contents, four to six keywords, a supporting information paragraph if applicable, safety information in the main text, and disclosure of AI tool use in the Acknowledgments or Methods as applicable.
References References must follow ACS Biomaterials Science & Engineering reference style. References must be cited by consecutive superscript Arabic numbers in order of first citation, include all author names without “et al.”, include journal article titles and CASSI abbreviations, and provide DOIs for journal articles.
