Cover Letter A cover letter is required and must include a short lay summary of approximately 150 words describing the significance of the study for a broad audience at the level of an undergraduate in biochemistry. The cover letter must contain a short lay summary of approximately 150 words describing the significance of the study for a broad audience at the level of an undergraduate in biochemistry.
Abstract An abstract is required for Articles. The abstract must be unreferenced and 250 words or less. The abstract must be unstructured and written in complete sentences without subheadings. No abstract headings are required.
Manuscript The introduction should be approximately 1000 words for an Article. Articles must include the headed sections Introduction, combined Results and Discussion, and Methods, with Methods placed at the end following Results and Discussion. The manuscript must include a graphical Table of Contents entry, six keywords below the abstract, and an AI-use disclosure in the manuscript when AI tools for text or image generation were used.
References Articles generally include approximately 50 references. References must be numbered with Arabic numerals in the order of first citation, cited in the text at the appropriate locations, include titles, and be compiled in a list at the end of the manuscript.
Figures & Tables Articles generally include 8–10 display items consisting of figures, tables, and schemes. Figures should be embedded in the text at the point of relevance. A graphical Table of Contents entry must be provided on the last page of the manuscript and labeled “For Table of Contents Only.”
