Pulmonology is the official journal of the Portuguese Society of Pulmonology and publishes clinical and experimental works on respiratory medicine, including original articles, reviews, editorial commentaries, short research, letters to the editor, correspondence, images, and conference proceedings. It publishes in English and articles are published online as of acceptance and collected into one online volume per year.

Research Article

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be 200 words. Abstract must be structured. Suggested abstract headings are Background, Research question, Study design and methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript Suggested manuscript length is 2,500 words. Manuscript must be ordered as title page, abstract, keywords, main text with Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices as appropriate, tables with captions on individual pages, figures, and a list of figure captions. Manuscript must include 3 to 5 keywords.
References References may be in any consistent scholarly citation format, must include essential bibliographic details, and every bibliographic entry must have a corresponding in-text citation.
Figures & Tables Tables with captions must appear on individual pages followed by figures and then a list of figure captions. Tables must be supplied as editable files.

Figures & Tables A maximum of two tables or figures is permitted. Tables or figures with captions must be provided on individual pages. Tables must be editable and should present new information that can be understood without referring to the text.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 300 words.
Manuscript Clinical Notes letters must not exceed 800 words excluding references and tables, and Correspondence letters must not exceed 500 words excluding references and tables. Manuscript must be arranged in the following order: title page and main text. Funding details and a disclosure statement under the subheading “Disclosure of interest” must be included in the manuscript.
References Clinical Notes letters may include up to 7 references, and Correspondence letters may include up to 5 references. References may be in any consistent scholarly citation format and all bibliographic entries must have corresponding in-text citations.
Figures & Tables Clinical Notes letters may include a maximum of two tables or figures, and Correspondence letters may include a maximum of one table or figure. Figures and tables can be placed within the text or submitted as separate documents. Tables must be supplied as editable files.
