Sleep Medicine is the official journal of the World Sleep Society and the International Pediatric Sleep Association. It publishes multidisciplinary research advancing the understanding and treatment of sleep disorders, bridging basic sleep science and clinical practice across topics including sleep neurophysiology, insomnia, sleep-related breathing disorders, circadian rhythm disturbances, parasomnias, movement disorders, pediatric sleep health, sleep in neurodegenerative and psychiatric conditions, and diagnostic and therapeutic technologies. Accepted formats include Original Research Articles, Reviews, Short Communications, and Correspondences.

Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Original Articles must include a structured abstract. Abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured.
Manuscript Original Articles must not exceed 5,000 words excluding the abstract, references, acknowledgments, funding, tables, and figures. Manuscript must be organized into Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion sections. Manuscript must include article highlights and a generative AI disclosure section before the references if AI tools were used in manuscript preparation.
References References are limited to 50. References must be cited in the text as numbers in square brackets and listed in the order of appearance.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures are limited to a combined total of 8. Figures must be uploaded as separate files, while tables must be submitted as editable text. Tables must include captions and be cited in the text, and figures must have captions and be cited in the text.
