Trends in Pharmacological Sciences (TIPS) is a monthly peer-reviewed reviews journal that publishes reviews and opinions across pharmacology, pharmacy, pharmaceutics, and toxicology. Launched in 1979, it focuses on recent developments in pharmacology and therapeutics research, including drug discovery and development, basic and clinical pharmacology, therapeutics, drug safety and toxicity, pharmacy, pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacoeconomics, and related areas such as biopharma regulation, science policy, and bioethics.

Trends In Pharmacological Sciences is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required and must be 100 to 120 words. Abstract must be 100 to 120 words.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 3500 words, excluding boxes, tables, figure legends, abstract, and references. Review must begin with a clear one- or two-paragraph introduction under a descriptive heading other than Introduction and end with a section entitled Concluding Remarks or Concluding Remarks and Future Perspectives. Highlights and an Outstanding Questions Box are required, all articles must include a declaration of interests section, and any use of generative AI in writing must be declared in a separate section after the declaration of interests section.
References Reviews must include no more than 80 references. References must be cited as numbers in square brackets in order of citation and listed at the end of the main text in citation order with one reference per number.
Figures & Tables Reviews may contain up to six additional elements consisting of figures, tables, and text boxes, may include no more than four text boxes, and may include either one Key Figure or one Key Table but not both. Figures must be supplied as separate files rather than embedded in the main text document, whereas tables must be prepared in Word and submitted as part of the main document. Figure legends must have a short explanatory title and be no more than 250 words, and tables must have a single-sentence title with no legend and must not be inserted as images.

Manuscript Main text must be 700 to 800 words, excluding text in the box, table, or figure legend, and references. Manuscript must include 2 to 6 keywords, 3 to 5 highlights in a separate file not exceeding 900 characters including spaces, a declaration of interests section, and an AI declaration section after the declaration of interests section when generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in scientific writing.

Figures & Tables Letters may contain one additional element consisting of one figure, one table, or one text box, and each text box must not exceed 200 words. Figures must be supplied as separate files rather than embedded in the main text document, while tables must be submitted as part of the main document using the Word table template. Tables must have a single-sentence title and no legend, must not be inserted as images, and table abbreviations not defined in the main text must be footnoted using superscript lowercase letters.
