Nurse Education in Practice publishes international research and scholarship on nurse and midwifery related education spanning education and clinical practice. It publishes empirical studies and systematic reviews to contribute to the evidence base of nurse and midwifery education in practice. The peer reviewed journal promotes diversity and encourages open science practices including pre-printing of manuscripts, registration of studies, and data sharing.

Research Papers

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract should be structured. Abstract should use the headings Aim/objective, Background, Design, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Research Papers must not exceed 5,000 words excluding the abstract, references, tables, and figures. Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined sections with headings, including an introduction stating the objectives and a methods section detailed enough for independent reproduction. Manuscript must include 4 to 10 English keywords, a declaration of generative AI use in a new section before the references when applicable, and instrument development or validation papers must include the full instrument as a supplementary file.
References Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list and vice versa, references cited in the abstract must be given in full, web references must include the full URL and access date, data references must include [dataset] and core dataset details, and preprints must be clearly identified with the server name or the word preprint and DOI.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, while figures must be supplied as separate files alongside the manuscript. Tables must be editable text with consecutive numbering and captions, and all tables and figures must be cited in the manuscript text.
