The Journal of Autoimmunity publishes papers related to diverse aspects of autoimmunity, including the mechanism of self-recognition, regulation of autoimmune responses, experimental autoimmune diseases, diagnostic autoantibody tests, and the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and treatment of autoimmune diseases, with special attention to genetic, molecular biology, and cellular aspects of the discipline.

Full-Length Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words.
Manuscript A typical Full-Length Article comprises less than 5000 words of text, but there is no formal total character count restriction. Articles should be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. The manuscript must include 1 to 7 English keywords, submission highlights consisting of 3 to 5 bullet points, and a declaration of generative AI use in a new section placed before the references if applicable.
References There is no formal restriction on the number of references, although a typical Full-Length Article comprises 30 to 50 references. References must be cited as numbers in square brackets and numbered in the order they appear in the article.
Figures & Tables There is no formal restriction on the number of figures, although a typical Full-Length Article comprises 3 to 5 figures or tables. Tables should be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, while figures and other graphical media must be supplied as separate files. Tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images, and all figures and tables must be cited in the manuscript and include captions.
