Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be 200 to 300 words. Abstract must be unstructured and written in one paragraph without subheadings.
Manuscript Manuscript must include a title page, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, references, and tables and figure legends, with Results and Discussion allowed to be combined in shorter Original Articles. Manuscript must include key words, a disclosure statement, and a data availability statement explaining how to access supporting data and analyses, including links or citations to publicly archived datasets analysed or generated during the study.
References References must be cited in the text using numbers in square brackets and listed alphabetically by the first author's surname, then numbered consecutively.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, but large figures may be submitted separately if file size causes upload problems. Tables and figures must be numbered with Arabic numerals, cited in consecutive numerical order, and accompanied by captions or figure legends, with figure captions included in the manuscript text file rather than in the figure files.

Manuscript The manuscript must include an authors’ contribution statement identifying who had the idea for the article, who performed the literature search and data analysis, and who drafted and/or critically revised the work.
References References must be cited in the text using numbers in square brackets. The reference list must include only cited published or accepted works, be alphabetized by the first author’s last name and numbered consecutively, and include full DOI links where available.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, but large figures may be submitted separately if file size causes upload problems.
