The interdisciplinary European Journal of Ageing: Social, Behavioural and Health Perspectives is devoted to the understanding of ageing around the world. It publishes original articles on the social, behavioral and population health aspects of ageing, encourages an integrated approach across these aspects, emphasizes empirical research including meta-analyses, and also considers conceptual papers including narrative reviews and methodological contributions. The journal aims to support better policy formulation and practice for serving older adults.

Original Investigations

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract should be 150 to 250 words. Abstract should be unstructured. Abstract must concisely state the research objective, methods used, results, and conclusions.
Manuscript Original Investigations reporting empirical studies should not exceed 5,000 words and should have no more than 10 pages of references, tables, figures, or illustrations. Manuscript must include a word count on the title page, 4 to 6 keywords, a disclosure statement, a data availability statement, and a Declarations section before the reference list that includes authors’ contribution statements and any AI use documented in the Methods section or other suitable part.
References Citations should use name-and-year style. Reference list should include only cited published or accepted works, be alphabetized by the last name of the first author, and include full DOI links where available.
Figures & Tables Original Investigations should have no more than 10 pages of references, tables, figures, or illustrations. Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems. Figures and tables must be numbered with Arabic numerals, cited in consecutive numerical order, and accompanied by concise captions, with figure captions included in the manuscript text file rather than the figure files.

Abstract An abstract is required for Qualitative Research Articles. Abstract should be 150 to 250 words. Abstract should be unstructured. Abstract must concisely state the research objective, the methods used, and the results and conclusions of the research.
Manuscript Manuscript should provide a concise and clear description of the research question, background, and contextual material, include detailed specification of the study design and procedural issues, and note the basis for sample selection, data collection, approach to analysis, use of triangulation, and rationale for methodological choice. Manuscript must include 4 to 6 keywords and a Declarations section before the reference list that includes funding, competing interests, and authors’ contribution statements, and any use of a large language model must be documented in the Methods section or a suitable alternative part.
References References must be cited in the text by name and year in parentheses. Reference list entries must include only works cited in the text that have been published or accepted for publication and must be alphabetized by the last name of the first author.
Figures & Tables Figures should be submitted within the body of the text, with large figures submitted separately only if file size causes upload problems.
