It is the journal of the Institute of Materia Medica, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, and is produced and hosted by Elsevier B.V.

Original Article

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required. Abstract must be less than 200 words. Abstract must be unstructured. Abstract must briefly state the purpose of the research, the methods applied, the principal results, and the major conclusions.
Manuscript Original Articles should be structured as Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion or Results and discussion, and Conclusions. Manuscript must include eight keywords, a running title of fewer than 10 words, and an AI declaration statement immediately above the references if generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in the writing process.
References References must be cited by number in line with the text, numbered in the reference list in order of appearance, include all authors when there are 6 or fewer or the first 6 followed by et al. when there are more than 6, and use Index Medicus journal title abbreviations.
Figures & Tables Tables are included in the anonymized manuscript, while figures and graphical abstracts must be uploaded as separate files and supporting tables and figures must be placed in the Supporting Information section. A graphical abstract is required and must include a color image with resolution greater than 300 dpi plus a one- or two-sentence abstract of fewer than 30 words, and tables and figures must be cited in numerical order with appropriate captions.

Manuscript Review Article manuscripts should follow the APSB paper structure template for review articles. Manuscript Manuscript should follow the APSB paper structure template for review articles and the main text should be subdivided with headings as appropriate. Manuscript must be submitted without author details, include 5–8 keywords, provide individual author contributions using full author names with a statement that all authors approved the final article, include a conflicts of interest statement, and add an AI declaration statement immediately above the references if AI tools were used in writing preparation.
References References must be cited by number in line with the text. References must be numbered in the order cited, each text citation must appear in the reference list and vice versa, references cited in tables, figures, or boxes must follow the same sequence, journal titles must be abbreviated according to Index Medicus, and references with more than 6 authors must list the first 6 followed by 'et al.'.
Figures & Tables Figures and other graphical media must be supplied as separate files, while tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article. A graphical abstract is required and must include a color image that clearly represents the work plus a one- or two-sentence text of fewer than 30 words, all graphics must have captions, all tables, figures, and schemes must be cited in numerical order, and graphics may be single column at 8.5 cm or less or double column at 16 cm or less.
