Annals of Epidemiology is devoted to epidemiologic research and methodological development, emphasizing the application of epidemiologic methods to issues affecting the distribution and determinants of human illness and their impact on public health. Original Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. Cover letter should briefly state the study's aim and main findings, explain fit with the journal's scope, emphasize novelty and broader implications, acknowledge if the submission was invited, and exclude funding information, author declarations, and suggested or opposed reviewers.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 200 words. Abstract must be concise, factual, and able to stand alone, but no structured format is specified.
Manuscript Manuscript must be divided into clearly defined sections using headings, with acknowledgements in a separate section directly before the reference list. Manuscript must include 3 to 10 English keywords, provide all abbreviations and acronyms in a defined list, and include an AI declaration section before the references if generative AI tools were used in manuscript preparation.
References References must use numbered citations in square brackets. Reference list must be numbered in order of first appearance in the text, include all cited and only cited sources, contain core bibliographic details, and list the first 6 authors followed by 'et al.' when there are more than 6 authors.
Figures & Tables Tables, footnotes, and captions must be included in the submitted files, while figures and other artwork must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be editable text with captions and text citations, and figures must be separately numbered, cited in the text, and accompanied by captions, with any generative AI-created images disclosed in the caption.
