Original Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must disclose any AI tool use, state that all authors have read and approved the submission, indicate if the submission is based on a previously published or meeting abstract, and include a statement that no part of the research was funded by tobacco industry sources.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. The abstract must be structured. Preferred headings are Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The manuscript must not exceed 3,500 words. The manuscript must use the first-level section headers Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, and Results and Discussion must not be combined. The manuscript must include 3 to 5 keywords, an Author contributions section on the title page, and statements declaring any AI tool use on the title page and in the relevant manuscript section.
References The manuscript may include a maximum of 50 references. AMA style with a numerical citation system is required. References should be numbered in order of appearance and listed numerically, include up to six authors before using et al., provide complete article titles and inclusive page numbers, and use Index Medicus journal abbreviations.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include a maximum of 5 figures or tables. For initial submission, the journal recommends a single manuscript file with embedded figures and tables, while revised submissions must provide separate tables and high-resolution figures. Tables must be placed at the end of the main text and figures and their captions should be embedded in numerical order in the manuscript at initial submission.

Review

Cover Letter A cover letter is required and, for Reviews, it should state whether the authors have published other similar articles on related topics. The cover letter should disclose any AI tool use, confirm that all authors have read and approved the submission, include a tobacco industry funding statement, and state whether the authors have published other similar articles on related topics.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Reviews. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. The abstract must be structured. Preferred headings are Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Review manuscripts must be 2,000-4,000 words. Review manuscripts may use any wording for the first-level section headers. The manuscript must include 3 to 5 keywords, an Author contributions section on the title page, and statements declaring any AI tool use on the title page and in the relevant manuscript section.
References Review manuscripts may include a maximum of 80 references. References must follow AMA style with a numerical citation system. References must be numbered in order of appearance, listed numerically, include up to six authors before using et al., provide complete article titles and inclusive page numbers, and use Index Medicus journal abbreviations.
Figures & Tables Review manuscripts may include a maximum of 5 figures or tables. Figures and their captions should be embedded in the text in numerical order at initial submission, figures must also be submitted as individual files, and all tables must be placed at the end of the main text. Each table must have a caption or title and be supplied in editable format rather than as an image or spreadsheet, and figure legends must be included in the manuscript file.

References must be numbered in order of appearance and listed numerically, with up to six authors before using et al., complete article titles, inclusive page numbers, and Index Medicus journal abbreviations.
Figures & Tables Manuscript may include a maximum of 3 figures or tables. Figures and their captions should be embedded in the text in numerical order at initial submission, figures must also be submitted as individual files, and tables must be placed at the end of the main text. Each figure requires alt text in the manuscript under the relevant legend, and tables must be editable, numbered in chronological order, and include a caption or title.

Brief Reports
