Behavior Therapy is an international journal published six times a year on behalf of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. It publishes original empirical research on the application of behavioral and cognitive sciences to the conceptualization, assessment, and treatment of psychopathology and related clinical problems, along with methodological and theoretical papers, evaluative literature reviews, controlled single-case designs, and clinical replication series.

Original Empirical Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for manuscripts of 36 to 40 pages and must justify the additional pages.
Abstract Required. Unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscripts must not exceed 40 pages, and manuscripts of 36 to 40 pages require justification in the cover letter. Articles must be divided into clearly defined sections with each subsection headed on a separate line. Highlights are mandatory, 3 to 5 keywords must follow the abstract, and use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be declared upon submission.
References Every reference cited in the text must appear in the reference list, references cited in the abstract must be given in full, and citations should be relevant, timely, verified, and generally peer-reviewed.
Figures & Tables Figures, images, artwork, diagrams, and other graphical media must be supplied as separate files, and tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images. A CONSORT flowchart is required as a figure for randomized clinical trials, and the CONSORT checklist must be included as an appendix.
