Biomimetics is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on biomimicry and bionics, published monthly online by MDPI. It is free for readers, with article processing charges paid by authors or their institutions. The journal is indexed in Scopus, SCIE, PubMed, PMC, Ei Compendex, CAPlus / SciFinder, and other databases. Cover Letter A cover letter is required. It must explain the significance of the paper, place the findings in the context of existing work, explain fit with the journal scope, and confirm that all authors approved the manuscript and agree with its submission.
Abstract An abstract is required. About 200 words maximum. Structured-style but without headings.
Manuscript Article manuscripts must include Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and an optional Conclusions section. Three to ten keywords must be included after the abstract.
References References must be numbered in order of appearance in the text, including table captions and figure legends, and may use any consistent style in free-format submissions.
Figures & Tables Figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted into the main text close to their first citation. Each figure, scheme, and table must be numbered in order of appearance and given a short explanatory title and caption.

Scoping Review

The manuscript must include a statement in the Methods section that PRISMA guidelines were followed and registration information if available.
References References must be numbered in order of appearance in the text, including table captions and figure legends.
Figures & Tables Figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted into the main text close to their first citation. Scoping Review submissions must include the PRISMA flow diagram in the main text, and supplementary materials must identify each element with a name and title such as Figure S1: title and Table S1: title.

Systematic Review

Abstract An abstract is required. About 200 words maximum. Unstructured single-paragraph abstract following the style of a structured abstract.
Manuscript Systematic Review manuscripts should use the same structure as research articles and clearly detail the Methods section. Keywords are required, and the manuscript should include a completed PRISMA checklist and flow diagram or similar reporting checklist as part of the main text or supplementary materials.
