Original Research Papers

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. The cover letter must explain the paper’s significance, place the findings in the context of existing work, explain fit with the journal’s scope, acknowledge any prior submission to an MDPI journal, and for expanded conference papers disclose that status and describe what has been changed from the original conference paper.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract should be around 250 words. The abstract should be structured. The abstract should use the headings Background/Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript The manuscript should include Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and optionally Conclusions, with back matter including Supplementary Materials, Author Contributions, Funding, Data Availability Statement, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, and References. Original Research Papers with several authors must include a short author-contributions paragraph, and any use of generative artificial intelligence must be disclosed in the Materials and Methods and Acknowledgments sections.
References References may be in any consistent style at initial submission, but they must be numbered in order of appearance, cited in square brackets before punctuation, and listed individually at the end of the manuscript.
Figures & Tables For Microsoft Word submissions, graphics should be inserted in the main text after the paragraph of first citation. Figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order of appearance and include a short explanatory title and caption.

Review
