Current Oncology

Current Oncology is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal founded in 1994 that serves as a multidisciplinary medium for clinical oncologists to report and review progress in cancer management. It is published monthly online by MDPI and is affiliated with organizations including the Canadian Association of Medical Oncologists, the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology, the Canadian Association of General Practitioners in Oncology, and Cell Therapy Transplant Canada.

Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with each manuscript submission. The cover letter must explain the significance of the paper, justify its fit to the journal’s scope, acknowledge any prior submissions to MDPI journals, and include statements confirming exclusive submission and all authors’ approval.

Abstract Article manuscripts should include an abstract. The abstract should be about 200 words maximum. The abstract must be a single paragraph written in a structured style without headings.

Manuscript Article manuscripts should include Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and optionally Conclusions sections, with back matter consisting of Supplementary Materials, Author Contributions, Funding, Data Availability Statement, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, and References. A one-paragraph Simple Summary of no more than 150 words must appear before the abstract, three to ten keywords must follow the abstract, a short author-contributions paragraph is required for multi-author research articles, and any use of generative AI must be disclosed in the manuscript.

References References may be submitted in any consistent style, but they must be numbered in order of appearance in the text. References must be listed individually at the end of the manuscript, numbered by order of appearance including citations in tables and figure legends, with square-bracketed citation numbers placed before punctuation and entries including core bibliographic details and the full title.

Figures & Tables Figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted into the main text close to their first citation. Figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order of appearance and each must have a short explanatory title and caption.

Manuscript must include a one-paragraph Simple Summary of no more than 150 words before the abstract, three to ten keywords after the abstract, an author contributions statement, and AI use disclosures in the manuscript if generative AI was used.

References References may be in any citation style at submission if used consistently throughout the manuscript. References must be numbered in order of appearance, cited in square brackets before punctuation, and listed individually at the end of the manuscript with full title and standard bibliographic details.

Manuscript Systematic Reviews should use the same structure as research articles, including sections such as Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Conclusions, and must clearly detail the Methods section. The manuscript must include a one-paragraph Simple Summary of no more than 150 words before the abstract, 3 to 10 keywords after the abstract, an author contributorship statement clarifying ideation, literature search and/or data analysis, and drafting and revision roles, and any AI use must be disclosed in the manuscript.

References References must be numbered in order of appearance in the text. Reference numbers must appear in square brackets before punctuation, and the reference list must be listed individually at the end of the manuscript with full titles and standard bibliographic details.

Manuscript Case Reports must include Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Detailed Case Description, Discussion, and Conclusions. Three to ten keywords must follow the abstract, and any use of generative AI must be disclosed in the Materials and Methods section or a suitable alternative part of the manuscript.

References References may be submitted in any consistent style, but must be numbered in order of appearance in the text. References must be listed individually at the end of the manuscript with full titles, and citation numbers in the text must appear in square brackets before punctuation.
