Original Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required and must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be no more than 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the subheadings Aims, Methods, Results, and Conclusion and include one or two bullet points summarizing the clinical relevance of the paper.
Manuscript Manuscript must not exceed 4000 words including the abstract, body text, and references. Manuscript should be divided into Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections followed by a reference list. Abstract data must be reflected in the paper, the last sentence of the Introduction must state the research question or hypothesis, and a Statistical analysis section must appear at the end of the Methods section.
References References must use the Vancouver system. References must be cited by superscript numbers in the order of appearance, use only published work, exclude personal communications, and require proof of acceptance for items cited as in press.
Figures & Tables Papers must contain no more than 8 tables and no more than 10 figures, counting figure panels separately. Figure captions should be provided at the end of the paper. Tables must not duplicate text, each table must have a short descriptive heading, and each figure must have a full descriptive legend identifying the area of interest and any arrows or lettering.
