British Journal of Nutrition is an international peer-reviewed journal that publishes original papers and review articles across the full spectrum of nutritional science. The journal focuses on increasing knowledge in nutritional science relevant to human or animal nutrition, including nutritional epidemiology, nutritional requirements, metabolic studies, body composition, energetics, appetite and obesity, as well as interactions of nutrition with endocrinology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, molecular and cell biology, neuroscience and physiology that report outcomes relevant to health, behaviour and well-being.

Cover Letter A cover letter should accompany the submission. Cover letter should include a brief summary of the work, a short explanation of the study's novelty, and a short explanation of how the study advances nutritional science.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured and presented as a single paragraph of continuous text. Abstract must not use subheadings.
Manuscript Introduction should be no longer than two manuscript pages and the discussion should be no longer than five manuscript pages. Manuscript should open with an abstract and include Experimental Methods or Methods and Discussion sections. Title page must include at least four keywords or phrases, a list of abbreviations, declarations of interests and author contributions using the CRediT taxonomy must appear in the main manuscript, and any use of AI tools must be declared and described in the acknowledgments, footnotes, methods, or figure captions as applicable.
References References must use the Vancouver system. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first citation using superscript Arabic numerals in parentheses, listed in numerical order, list only the first three authors followed by 'et al.' when there are more than three authors, and include English translations in parentheses for non-English titles.
Figures & Tables For original submissions, figures and tables can be kept in their original locations in the text, while figures must be supplied as separate electronic files and tables must be placed at the end of the main manuscript file.
