CNS Spectrums

CNS Spectrums covers all aspects of the clinical neurosciences, neurotherapeutics, and neuropsychopharmacology, particularly those pertinent to the clinician and clinical investigator. The journal features focused, in-depth reviews, perspectives, and original research articles, with emphasis on new therapeutics in psychiatry, mental health, and neurology, including first in man studies, proof of concept studies, and translational basic neuroscience studies. Subject coverage spans the full spectrum of neuropsychiatry, especially areas crossing traditional boundaries between neurology and psychiatry.

Original Research

Cover Letter A cover letter must be included with the submission. The cover letter must state when the manuscript draws on a thesis.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Original Research submissions. The abstract must be no more than 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
Manuscript The manuscript must be 6,000 words. The manuscript must be organized into Title page, Structured Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, Funding, Competing interests, References, and Tables and/or Figures. The manuscript must include keywords, a Competing interests declaration, and declarations describing any use of AI tools.
References The submission may include up to 100 references. References must use American Medical Association (AMA) style. References must be cited as superscript numbers in order of appearance, not alphabetized, list all authors when there are six or fewer and the first three followed by et al. when there are seven or more, use Index Medicus journal abbreviations, and not duplicate entries.
Figures & Tables The submission must include at least 2 tables and/or figures. Tables must appear in editable format at the end of the article, and figures must be submitted as separate files rather than interspersed in the text. Tables, figures, and images must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, and provided with captions, with figure captions supplied at the end of the manuscript text.

Manuscript should be arranged as Title page, Abstract, Introduction, Body, Conclusion, Acknowledgements, Funding, Competing interests, and References. Manuscript may include 3 to 5 Clinical Implication points where appropriate, must include a Competing interests declaration, and must declare and describe any use of AI tools.
References Reviews have no reference limit, but ideally include up to 30 references. References must use AMA style. References must be cited as superscript numbers in order of appearance, not alphabetized, list all authors when there are six or fewer, list the first three authors followed by "et al." when there are seven or more, use Index Medicus journal abbreviations, and avoid duplicate entries.
Figures & Tables Reviews must include 2 to 6 tables and/or figures. Tables must appear in editable format at the end of the article and figures must be submitted as separate files rather than embedded in the text. Tables, figures, and images must be cited in the text, numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, and accompanied by captions, and alt-text must be provided for all figures.
