Original Research

Cover Letter Required. The cover letter must confirm that all authors approve the submission, that the work is original and not under consideration elsewhere, that all necessary permissions for reproduced copyrighted material have been obtained, and that any third-party writing or editing assistance and any non-author submission on behalf of the authors are disclosed.
Abstract Required. 300 words or fewer. Structured.
Manuscript 3,500 words maximum. Title page, abstract if included, main text, data access, acknowledgements, conflict of interest statement, funding, references, tables, and figure legends. The manuscript must include at least 3 keywords, a conflict of interest statement, a funding statement, and a 'Statements and Declarations' section when required by the journal-level instructions.
References 70 references maximum. Sage Vancouver. References must be numbered in order of first appearance in the text and reused for repeated citations.
Figures & Tables No more than 5 figures and tables combined. Null. Figures and tables must be numbered in order of appearance, tables must be self-explanatory and not duplicate text or figures, and figures and tables must follow the journal's specified legend and title conventions.

Clinical Trial

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The manuscript should include title page, abstract if included, main text, data access, acknowledgements, conflict of interest statement, funding, references, tables, and figure legends, and Clinical Trial manuscripts must include trial registration details and ID in the methods. The manuscript must include a CONSORT diagram and a CONSORT checklist, and should include a minimum of 3 keywords.

Figures & Tables Clinical Trial manuscripts may include 5 additional tables or figures. Tables must be on separate pages and submitted as original text files. Figures and tables must be numbered consecutively in order of appearance, tables must be self-explanatory with titles above and legends below, and figure legends must identify abbreviations alphabetically.
