Cover Letter
A brief cover letter is required for Stage 1 submissions and a cover letter is also required at Stage 2. The Stage 1 cover letter must include a brief scientific case for consideration, confirmation that necessary support and approvals are in place, an anticipated study timeline, and agreement to register the approved protocol in a recognized repository after in-principle acceptance, while the Stage 2 cover letter must state the manuscript page number listing the approved protocol URL and certify that all non-pilot data were collected after in-principle acceptance.

Manuscript
Registered Reports have no word limit. Stage 1 manuscripts must be submitted before the research is conducted and include an Introduction and complete, transparent Methods written in the future tense, with pilot results where applicable, while Stage 2 manuscripts must include the original Introduction and Methods plus the obtained Results and Discussion with future-tense rationale and methodology changed to past tense. The manuscript must include hypotheses, key research question and background literature, experimental aims, experimental design and procedures, proposed sample characteristics and exclusion criteria, analysis pipeline with planned comparisons, power analysis, any covariates or regressors, a study timeline, expected application prospects, and at Stage 2 a separate "Exploratory analyses" section for unregistered analyses plus a link to the approved Stage 1 protocol; authors must also disclose their use of AI Technologies when submitting.

References may be submitted in any clear and consistent style, and data deposited into a repository must be cited.
Figures & Tables
Supplementary figures, tables, and text may be provided as standard supplementary information or archived with the data, but raw data must be archived rather than submitted as supplementary information.
