Cover letter is required. Cover letter must state that the paper is not under consideration elsewhere, none of its contents have been published previously, all authors have read and approved the manuscript, and any potential conflicts of interest are disclosed or that none exist.
Abstract
Structured abstract is required. Abstract must be 260 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background and Aims, Methods, Results, and Conclusion, plus 4 to 5 keywords.
Manuscript
Manuscript must not exceed 6,000 words including figure and table legends and references. Manuscript must include a title page and a structured abstract, and it must be submitted as a Microsoft Word document. Manuscript must include a 'What You Need to Know' box with 25 to 30 words under BACKGROUND, FINDINGS, and IMPLICATIONS FOR PATIENT CARE, and it must include a declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process before the references.
References
References must be cited in order of appearance using superscript Arabic numerals, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus, and shared co-first authors must be shown in bold with the phrase 'Author names in bold designate shared co-first authorship' added at the end when applicable.
Figures & Tables
Original Articles may include no more than six figures and/or tables in total, and each figure may have up to six panels labeled A-F. Figures must be submitted as separate attachments. Figures must be provided in JPEG, TIFF, EPS, or PDF format at 300 PPI resolution, and figure legends must appear in the manuscript body immediately before the references or be submitted in a .doc or .rtf file.

Figures & Tables

Tables must be created in a Word document rather than as images, and all abbreviations used in tables must be spelled out in a footnote.

A statement disclosing the use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the writing process must appear at the end of the manuscript before the references under the specified heading.
References
Letters To The Editor may include no more than 8 references, which are not included in the word count. References must omit the article title and list only the first author unless citing manuscripts with joint first authors, formatted like 'Jones RS, et al. Gastroenterology 2011;2:373-380'.
