Current Opinion publishes commissioned review articles only and does not consider unsolicited manuscripts. Manuscripts require structured abstracts, keywords, references in Vancouver style, figure and table formatting, and separate submission of figures and tables. Open access is available for accepted peer-reviewed articles with an APC charged on acceptance, and read-and-publish agreements may waive the APC for eligible authors.

Submission Instructions

Current Opinion In Infectious Diseases is an invitation-only journal. Submissions are accepted by invitation from the editorial board only. The following article types are accepted:

Review

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must be no longer than 200 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Purpose of review, Recent findings, and Summary.
Manuscript Review articles must be approximately 2,500 words excluding references. Manuscript must include an introduction outlining the scope and context of the review, headings and titled paragraphs subdividing the text, and a short concluding paragraph. Manuscript must include 3-5 keywords and 3-5 key bullet points after the main text.
References At least 80% of the references must be from the review period published in the past year to 18 months. References must use Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in citation order, list the first three authors or all authors if there are four or fewer, and important recent references should be marked with one or two asterisks and annotated for importance.
Figures & Tables Review articles are encouraged to include up to four additional elements as a combination of figures and tables. Figures and tables should be submitted as separate files rather than embedded within the text. All figures and tables must be cited in the text, figures must be cited in numerical order and include a title and legend, tables must have an appropriate title, and previously published figures and tables must include full source details with reused figures unchanged from the original.
