Cytokine is an official journal of the International Cytokine & Interferon Society. It publishes studies on the molecular biology, signal transduction, genetics, biochemistry, immunology, genome-wide association, pathobiology, diagnostic, clinical, and therapeutic applications of cytokines, cytotoxins, interferons, chemokines, adipokines, matrikines, hematopoietic factors, and growth factors, including related signaling molecules and biological response modifiers involved in inflammation, immunity, host defenses, and immune responses.

Review Articles

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Unstructured.
Manuscript Subsections must be numbered, and section numbering must be used for cross-referencing. Article highlights must be submitted as a separate editable file with 3 to 5 bullet points, keywords must be provided, and a generative AI declaration must be added before the references if AI tools were used.
References Numbered citations in square brackets. References must be numbered in order of appearance, all cited references must appear in the list and vice versa, journal names must be abbreviated using LTWA, and web, data, and preprint references have specific required elements.
Figures & Tables Tables may be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, and figures and other artwork must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be editable text and cited in the manuscript; all images must be cited and numbered in order, each artwork must have a caption, and graphical abstracts must be submitted separately as an image file.
