Drug Metabolism and Disposition is a journal in pharmacology and toxicology that publishes significant and original experimental findings from in vitro and in vivo systems on the metabolism and disposition of endogenous and exogenous compounds, including pharmacologic agents and environmental chemicals. Original Research Articles

Cover Letter A letter of submission is required. The cover letter must include author approval of the submission.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be unstructured and able to stand alone.
Manuscript Introduction must not exceed 750 words and Discussion must not exceed 1,500 words. Manuscript must include an Introduction with aims or hypotheses and relevant background, a Materials and Methods section, Results, and a concise Discussion, with an optional stand-alone conclusions section or conclusions presented within the Discussion or Results and Discussion. Manuscript must include 3 to 6 keywords, a significance statement of no more than 80 words immediately after the abstract, a separate glossary list of field-specific terms, a first-page footnote defining nonstandard abbreviations, an AI declaration section before the references if generative AI was used, and acknowledgements in a separate section directly before the reference list.
References References must use a numbered style with superscript Arabic numerals cited in order of appearance. Reference list entries must be numbered in order of appearance and journal names must be abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Figures must be uploaded as separate files, figure captions must be provided in a separate file, and tables must be submitted as editable text. Tables and figures must be cited and numbered consecutively in the text, tables must include captions, and data with fewer than four values must be presented in the text rather than as a separate table or figure.

Manuscript The manuscript body should generally range from 4,000 to 6,000 words excluding the reference list. The body should preferably include Introduction, Brief historical perspective, Key recent advances, Current challenges and knowledge gaps, Perspective on future directions, and Conclusions sections. The manuscript must include 3 to 6 keywords and a separate significance statement, and any use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be declared in a section placed before the references list.
References There is no limit to the number of references. References in the text must be cited with superscript Arabic numerals and listed in the reference list in the order of appearance.
Figures & Tables Figures must be supplied as separate files, figure captions must be provided in a separate file, and tables must be submitted as editable text.
