Ear and Hearing is the official journal of the American Auditory Society. It publishes six issues per year and covers hearing research, audiology, speech language pathology, cochlear implants, hearing devices, and related clinical and scientific topics. The journal offers an open access option and includes published ahead-of-print articles.

Abstract A structured abstract is required for Research Articles. Abstract must not exceed 500 words. Abstract must be structured and written in third person and active voice. Abstract must use the headings Objectives, Design, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript should have a length of 8,000 words. Manuscript must be structured with the sections Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. Use of AI tools in writing, image production, or data collection or analysis must be disclosed in the Methods section, and an IDEA article designation may be indicated during submission.
References In-text citations and the reference list must follow APA 7th edition style. References must be placed at the end of the manuscript in double-spaced alphabetical order by first author, listing surnames and initials for up to 20 authors.
Figures & Tables Research Articles should include no more than 3 tables and 5 figures.
