Original Studies

Cover Letter Cover letter is required as a separate submission document. Cover letter must disclose all affiliations with or financial involvement in any organization or entity with a direct financial interest in the subject matter or materials discussed.
Abstract Abstract is required and must be submitted as a separate file. Abstract must be limited to 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, with other subheads added as needed.
Manuscript Manuscript must contain no more than 3,000 words, excluding the title page, abstract, tables, figures, references, and in-text reference citations. Manuscript must be organized under the four main headings Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion. Manuscript must include an AI use disclosure in the Materials and Methods or similar section if AI tools were used, and the title page must list three to five key words and a Conflicts of Interest and Source of Funding statement.
References References must be cited in order of appearance using superscript numbers outside punctuation, and for works with more than three authors only the first three authors should be listed followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Original Studies may include up to 5 tables or figures. Tables and figures must be uploaded as separate files and must not be embedded in the manuscript text. Figure legends must appear on a separate manuscript page after the references, and each table must be provided as a separate document with a title, column heads, and explanatory legends.
