It is a multidisciplinary scientific journal dedicated to improving the health and well-being of adolescents and young adults and publishes research in adolescent and young adult health and medicine ranging from the basic biological and behavioral sciences to public health and policy.

Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must disclose any prior publications or submissions with overlapping information or state that none exist, confirm the work is not under consideration elsewhere, and include any potential conflict of interest, the role of the study sponsor, and additional disclosures.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Purpose, Methods, Results, and Discussion.
Manuscript The manuscript is limited to 3500 words. The manuscript should usually be divided into Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion sections. The manuscript should include a 50-word Implications and Contribution summary statement, 3 to 10 keywords below the abstract, and a declaration of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process at the end of the manuscript before the References list if such tools were used.
References The reference list is limited to 40 references. References must follow AMA Manual of Style, 11th edition. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention, cited with Arabic numerals in brackets, use MEDLINE journal title abbreviations, list the first 3 authors followed by 'et al.' for works with 4 or more authors, and exclude unpublished observations, personal communications, and preprints.
Figures & Tables A maximum of 5 tables and/or figures is allowed. Figures and tables must be uploaded as separate individual files rather than embedded in the manuscript. Figure titles or captions must be supplied separately, and each table must be submitted as a separate document with its title and footnotes.
