Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must include the editor's name, manuscript title, a statement that the article has not been previously published or submitted elsewhere, a brief description of the article and its importance to EFORT Open Reviews readers, contact information, and a conflict of interest statement.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be presented in 3–6 bullet points. Abstract must summarise the content and main conclusions in 3–6 bullet points.
Manuscript Review Articles are recommended to have a maximum length of 4000 words. Review Articles must summarise the current state of understanding on a topic within orthopaedics and traumatology and should usually end with a Conclusions section. Manuscript must include 3–8 keywords, figure and table legends at the end of the main text file, and disclosure of AI tool use in the manuscript with details in the Materials and Methods section when used as part of the research design or methodology.
References References must use the Vancouver system. References must be cited in the text, numbered in order of first citation, and listed at the end of the article without abbreviated reference lists.
Figures & Tables Figures and tables must be submitted as separate files and must not be embedded in the Word document. Review Articles should include illustrative figures such as annotated radiographs, images, and diagrams, and all figures and tables must be clearly cited in the text, numbered consecutively, with figure legends and short descriptive table headings.
