Research Articles

Cover Letter Research Articles must include statements on conflicts of interest, funding, and acknowledgements or author contributions in the separate title page document rather than the anonymised main manuscript.
Abstract Research Articles must include an abstract. The abstract must be a single paragraph of no more than 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured as a single paragraph. The abstract must state the study objective, methods where applicable, and summarise results and conclusions without using abbreviations or references.
Manuscript Research Articles are limited to 6,000 words unless otherwise specified. Research Articles must include the sections Title Page, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and methods, Results, Discussion, Declaration of interest, Funding and Acknowledgements, References, Tables, and Figures. Research Articles must include at least four keywords, a generative AI disclosure statement, and a Data Availability Statement.
References Research Articles should contain no more than 60 references. References must be cited numerically in Vancouver style. References must be listed in citation order and include at least three authors before 'et al.' is used.
Figures & Tables Manuscripts should contain no more than 10 figures, and large tables should be submitted as supplementary materials. The title page must be uploaded separately from the anonymised main manuscript. Figures and tables must be anonymised, numbered in the order cited, and accompanied by legends or titles.
