Epidemiology & Infection is a fully open access scientific journal publishing original reports and reviews on the epidemiology of infectious diseases in humans. Reports concerning animal, food, and environmental reservoirs are also of interest when relevant to infectious disease epidemiology in people. The journal has a history dating back to its predecessor, The Journal of Hygiene, first published in 1901, and publishes research of international epidemiological and public health relevance.

Original Paper

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract A summary is required. Summary must be 150-200 words. Summary must be unstructured as one continuous paragraph.
Manuscript Original Papers should preferably be 2000-4000 words excluding references. Original Papers should normally be divided into Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion sections. The manuscript must include a declaration of interest, and authors must provide 3-5 short bullet points outlining key results and their importance during submission, with any AI-generated content use declared and described in the manuscript.
References Original Papers should keep the number of references below 40. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited with Arabic numerals in square brackets, with journal titles spelled out in full.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed in the main manuscript file at the end of the document, and legends for illustrations must be typed on a separate page. Tables and figures must be cited in the text and numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, and each table must have a brief title with captions provided for all tables and figures.

Tables must be placed at the end of the main manuscript file, and figure legends must be provided on a separate page. Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, and diagrams in 3D must not be included.
