Submission Instructions

Epigenomes accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required for submission. The cover letter must explain the significance of the paper, justify its fit with the journal, and confirm that all authors approved the manuscript and its submission.
Abstract A structured abstract is required for Article manuscripts. The abstract should be around 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Background/Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Article manuscripts should follow the IMRAD structure and include Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and optional Conclusions. The manuscript must include three to ten keywords and a Data Availability Statement, and any use of AI tools must be disclosed in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript.
References References must be numbered in order of appearance, listed individually at the end of the manuscript, and include the full title.
Figures & Tables Figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted into the main text close to their first citation. Figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order of appearance and each must have a short explanatory title or caption.

Review

Cover Letter A cover letter must be included with the submission. The cover letter must explain the paper's significance and fit with the journal's scope and confirm that all authors approved the manuscript and agree to its submission.
Abstract An abstract is required as part of the front matter for Review manuscripts. The abstract must be no longer than 200 words. The abstract should follow a structured IMRAD-style format without using headings. No abstract headings are required because the abstract should be structured without headings.
Manuscript Review manuscripts must include front matter with Title, Author list, Affiliations, Abstract, and Keywords, a logically organized literature review with specific sections and optional subsections, and back matter with Author Contributions, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, and References. Three to ten keywords must be included after the abstract, and any use of AI tools must be disclosed in the Methods section or another suitable part of the manuscript if no Methods section is available.
References References must be numbered in order of appearance in the text and listed individually at the end of the manuscript.

Scoping Review

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. The cover letter must explain the paper's significance, place the findings in the context of existing work, explain fit with the journal's scope, and confirm that all authors approved the manuscript and its submission.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be no longer than 200 words. Abstract should follow a structured IMRAD-style format without headings.
Manuscript Scoping Review manuscripts are submitted as Review manuscripts and should follow a structure similar to that of a review. The manuscript must include three to ten keywords and a statement in the Methods section that the review followed PRISMA guidelines, with registration information included if available.
References References must be numbered in order of appearance, cited in square brackets before punctuation, and listed individually at the end of the manuscript with full titles.
Figures & Tables Figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted into the main text close to their first citation. Figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order, each must have a short explanatory caption, and the PRISMA flow diagram should be included in the main text.

Systematic Review

Abstract A structured abstract is required for Systematic Review manuscripts. The abstract should be around 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Background/Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Systematic Review manuscripts should use the same structure as research articles and include a clearly detailed Methods section describing how literature was chosen for inclusion. The manuscript must include three to ten keywords after the abstract and must document any use of AI tools in the Methods section or another suitable section if no Methods section is available.
References References must be numbered in order of appearance, listed individually at the end of the manuscript, and cited in square brackets before punctuation.
Figures & Tables Figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted into the main text close to their first citation. Figures, schemes, and tables must be numbered in order of appearance and each must have a short explanatory title and caption.

Figures & Tables Brief Reports usually contain two figures and/or one table. Figures, schemes, and tables must be inserted into the main text close to their first citation. Figures and tables must be numbered in order, include explanatory captions, and tables must be editable rather than supplied as images.
