Original Scientific Papers

Cover Letter Use of AI to help generate content or images, write code, process data, or for translation must be disclosed in a cover letter at submission. Cover letter must disclose any use of AI to help generate content or images, write code, process data, or provide translation.
Abstract Original Scientific Papers must include a structured abstract. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must be no more than 4,500 words excluding the title page, disclosures, and tables but including references and figure legends. Manuscript must include up to six keywords, a graphical abstract submitted as a separate file, and an explanation of any AI use in a Methods or Acknowledgements section.
References References should not exceed 35. References must follow the Oxford University Press SCIMED numeric citation style. If a reference has more than six authors, list the first six authors followed by 'et al.', and each reference must include complete information including article title, abbreviated journal title, and inclusive page numbers.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed at the end of the main text, each figure must be submitted as an individual image file, and the graphical abstract must be submitted as a separate file. Figure titles and legends must be included within the manuscript file, and the graphical abstract legend must appear in the 'Legends' section and define any abbreviations.
