Research Articles
Cover Letter
A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state that all persons cited in Acknowledgements, personal communications, or unpublished observations or data concur with the citation.
Abstract
An abstract is required. No more than 200 words.
Manuscript
The recommended word limit is 4000 words. The manuscript must follow the section order Title page; Abstract; Introduction; Results; Discussion; Data Limitations and Perspectives; Materials and methods; Data availability statement; Conflict of interest disclosure; Ethics approval statement for human and/or animal studies; Patient consent statement; Permission to reproduce material from other sources; Clinical trial registration; Author contributions; Acknowledgements, including funding; References; Tables; Figure legends; Figures; Supporting Information. The manuscript must include the title page, a brief informative title of no more than 150 characters including spaces with no abbreviations, no more than 5 keywords, and author contribution details, acknowledgements including funding, and the required statements listed in the section order.
References
No more than 50 references. All authors must be listed in the reference list.
Figures & Tables
No more than 5 display elements total, counting figures and tables. Figures must be supplied as separate files and tables must be included in the manuscript. All figures must be cited in the main text, figure legends must be included as a complete list in the text, and figure files must be named only with the word figure and the appropriate number.

The reference limit is 50 references. References may be submitted in any style or format as long as they are consistent throughout the manuscript, and all authors must be listed in the reference list.
Figures & Tables
The limit is 5 display elements, counting figures and tables. Figures must be supplied as separate files and tables must be included in the main text file. All figures must be cited in the main text, figure legends should use Arabic numerals, and figure files must be named only with the word figure and the appropriate number.
