European Journal of Psychotraumatology is a peer-reviewed open access interdisciplinary journal owned by the European Society of Traumatic Stress Studies. It publishes research on understanding, preventing, and treating the consequences of stress, trauma, and violence, including PTSD, depressive disorders, substance abuse, burnout, and neurobiological or physical consequences, and welcomes contributions from academics and practitioners across mental health, social sciences, and health and welfare services.

Abstract Abstract is required. Structured abstract must not exceed 300 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include Background, Objective, Method, Results, and Conclusions in that order.
Manuscript Manuscript should preferably be under 6000 words including abstract and references and excluding tables and figures. Manuscript typically includes Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion sections. Registered Reports

Cover Letter A brief cover letter is required for Stage 1 submissions and a resubmission cover letter is required for Stage 2 submissions. The Stage 1 cover letter must include a brief scientific case, confirmation that support and approvals are in place, a study timeline, agreement to share raw data, digital materials, and laboratory log, agreement to register the approved protocol on OSF or another recognised repository after in-principle acceptance, and agreement to publication of a short summary if the paper is later withdrawn, while the Stage 2 resubmission cover letter must certify that all non-pilot data were collected after in-principle acceptance and provide a link to the laboratory log or explain why data cannot be shared publicly.

The manuscript must include 5–10 keywords, a Highlights section below the abstract with three bullet points, a disclosure statement, funding details, and at Stage 2 the URL of the approved Stage 1 protocol, with any additional unregistered analyses reported in a separate Results section titled “Exploratory analyses”.

Speed metrics are reported as median figures. Speed from submission to first decision is the median number of days for manuscripts receiving a first decision in the previous six months. Speed from submission to first post-review decision is the median number of days for peer reviewed articles receiving a first decision in the previous six months. Speed from acceptance to online publication is the median number of days from acceptance to online publication of the Version of Record for articles published in the previous six months.
