Original Research

Cover Letter Required. It must state that the contribution is original work not previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere, that all authors have read and approved the manuscript and met ICMJE conditions, and the body providing explicit ethical approval of the work reported.
Abstract Required. No more than 200 words. Structured. Background, Research design and methods, Results, Conclusions.
Manuscript Original Research articles typically include Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion sections, and the body must include introduction, patients and methods, results, discussion, and conclusions. Provide 5-8 keywords, a title page, a disclosure statement, funding details, and a data availability statement; AI use must be acknowledged.
References NLM style. References of particular interest must be marked with one or two asterisks and followed by a brief sentence explaining their interest.
Figures & Tables A maximum of five figures is permitted. Tables should present new information rather than duplicating the text, and tables must be supplied as editable files.

Manuscript The body of the article must not exceed 7000 words. The article must include an Introduction, a Body with numbered subsections, a Conclusion placed before the Expert Opinion section, and an Expert Opinion section. Provide 4-10 keywords in alphabetical order and include a minimum 500-word Expert Opinion section that addresses impact, implementation barriers, improvements, future research, the field's future direction, and a five-year speculative viewpoint.
References Around 100 references. NLM style. References must be relevant and balanced, unpublished results or personal communications require signed permission, and important references may be marked with one or two asterisks and brief annotations in an annotated bibliography.
Figures & Tables Up to 5 figures and up to 5 tables. Written permission is required to reproduce previously published figures, and permission documentation must be uploaded alongside the manuscript.
