Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state that the manuscript has not been and will not be considered elsewhere, briefly introduce the novel findings, and include three or more potential reviewers with no more than three excluded referees.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must be 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The manuscript must be 6,000-8,000 words excluding abstract, references, figures, and tables. The manuscript must contain cover letter, title page, abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgements, author contributions, conflict of interest, references, figure legends, tables, and figures. The manuscript must include 3-5 keywords, at least one and up to four unique subject terms, author contributions, a conflict of interest section, and disclosure of any Large Language Model use in the Methods section or another suitable part if there is no Methods section.
References The manuscript may include a maximum of 100 references. References must use the Vancouver system. References must be cited in the text as superscript Arabic numerals in order of appearance, journal issue numbers must be omitted, references cited in tables or figure legends must follow the first mention in the text, unpublished data and personal communications must be cited only in the text, and every in-text, table, or figure citation must appear in the reference list.
Figures & Tables The manuscript may include a maximum of 8 tables and figures. Figures must be uploaded as separate files rather than embedded in the text, figure legends must be placed on a separate manuscript page after the references, and each table may be uploaded separately or placed after the figure legends. Figures and images must be labelled sequentially and cited in the text, all parts of a figure must be grouped together, figure legends must be brief and specific, and tables must be editable, cited in order, and used only for essential data without duplicating the text.
