Investigations

Cover Letter A cover letter must disclose any use of artificial intelligence and include any requested rationale for withholding data under a data policy exception. The cover letter must disclose any use of artificial intelligence and include any requested rationale for withholding data under a data policy exception.
Abstract An abstract is required. The text abstract must not exceed 250 words, and a separate 100-word article summary must also be provided. The abstract must be unstructured. The abstract must provide the broad context, specific background, purpose, methods and procedures, core findings and results, and conclusions of the study without using formal headings.
Manuscript The manuscript must include Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion sections, with Results and Discussion presented either separately or combined. The manuscript must include a 100-word article summary, keywords, acknowledgments, a separate funding subheading, a data availability statement, and disclosure of any use of artificial intelligence in the Methods or Acknowledgements section.
References References must follow CSE author-date style. Previously published related papers and any relevant community database or stock center publications must be cited in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Figures must be included in the manuscript for review, submitted as separate individual image files, and tables must be placed at the end of the main text. Figure legends must appear in the manuscript file, tables must be editable rather than image files, and color is not permitted in tables.
