Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must state that all authors have read and approved the submission of the manuscript.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must not exceed 250 words. The abstract must be structured into four sections. The abstract headings must be Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Original Articles must not exceed 6000 words, counting all text from the title page through the last table, with online supplemental material excluded. The manuscript must be assembled in the order Title Page, Abstract, Text (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion), Acknowledgments, Sources of Funding, Disclosures, References, Figure Legends, Tables, and Figures. The manuscript must include Acknowledgments, Sources of Funding, and Disclosures as distinct sections, and automated assistive writing technologies used for writing assistance should be listed in the Acknowledgments.
References References must use a numbered endnote style. References must be cited in numerical order according to first mention in the text, figures, and tables, and must list the first 10 author names followed by "et al.".
Figures & Tables Original Articles may include a total of 6 tables and figures, and each figure may contain a maximum of 6 panels. Figures and tables may be embedded within the manuscript or submitted as separate files. Tables in the main manuscript must be included as editable text rather than images.
