Research Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. The cover letter must declare any potential competing interests and confirm that all authors approved the manuscript for submission.
Abstract An abstract is required for Research Articles. Abstract must not exceed 350 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must include the headings Background, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscript must include the sections Background, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, and a Declarations section. Manuscript must include three to ten keywords, the Declarations subheadings Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, Acknowledgements, and Authors' information (optional), use 'Not applicable' for any irrelevant Declarations section, and document any use of a Large Language Model in the Methods section or a suitable alternative part if no Methods section is available.
References References must use Vancouver style. Web links and URLs must be cited with a reference number and listed in full in the reference list, and unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must not be included in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Tables less than one page may be placed within the manuscript, tables larger than one page may be placed at the end of the text file, and figure titles and legends must be provided in the main manuscript rather than in the graphic file. Figures and tables must be numbered in the order they are cited in the text, tables must not be embedded as figures or spreadsheet files, and tables must be created using the word processor's Table object function.

Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required, and unsolicited review submissions must include evidence of the authors' high-level expertise. The cover letter must declare any potential competing interests, confirm that all authors approved the submission, confirm the manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere, name the special issue if applicable, and for unsolicited reviews include 5 to 10 relevant publications with links.
Abstract An abstract is required for review articles. The abstract must not exceed 350 words. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must include Background, Main body of the abstract, and short Conclusion.
Manuscript Review articles must not exceed 20 typeset pages, including figures, tables and references. The manuscript must include Background, Main text, Conclusions, and a Declarations section. The manuscript must include 3 to 10 keywords, a list of abbreviations if abbreviations are used, and under Declarations the headings Ethics approval and consent to participate, Consent for publication, Availability of data and materials, Competing interests, Funding, Authors' contributions, Acknowledgements, and optional Authors' information, with 'Not applicable' used for any non-relevant declaration section.
References References must follow Vancouver style. Only articles, clinical trial registration records, and abstracts that are published, in press, or publicly available as e-prints or preprints may be cited, unpublished abstracts, unpublished data, and personal communications must be excluded from the reference list, journal abbreviations must follow Index Medicus/MEDLINE, and web links or URLs must be numbered and included in the reference list.
Figures & Tables Tables shorter than one page may be placed within the manuscript, larger tables may be placed at the end of the text file, tables too wide for a landscape page may be uploaded as additional files, and figure titles and legends must appear in the main manuscript rather than in the graphic file. Figures and tables must be numbered in the order cited, multi-panel figures must be submitted as a single composite file, tables must not be embedded as figures or spreadsheet files, and tables must be created using the word processor's table function.
