The Indian Anaesthetists Forum accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required as part of the title page/first page file and must be signed by all contributors. The cover letter or title page file must include the manuscript type, title, running title, all authors’ details and affiliations, page and word counts, sources of support, prior presentation details, conflicts of interest, corresponding author contact details, and a statement that all authors approved the manuscript and consider it honest work.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract must be 250 words. The abstract must be structured. The manuscript must include an Abstract section, but specific abstract subheadings are not stated.
Manuscript The text must not exceed 3000 words excluding the abstract, references, and tables. The manuscript must be divided into Abstract, Key-words, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, References, Tables, and Figure legends. At least three keywords must be provided, and any use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgments section with the tool and its purpose described.
References About 30 references should be included. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited in the text, tables, and legends as superscript Arabic numerals in square brackets after punctuation marks.
Figures & Tables Tables must be included at the end of the text after the references, figure legends must appear at the end of the article file, and images must be uploaded as separate files rather than embedded in the blinded article file. Tables with more than 10 columns and 25 rows are not acceptable, and tables and figures must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals in the order first cited.

Review Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required and Review Articles must be accompanied by a short summary of the contributor's work done in the field of review. The cover letter must be signed by all contributors and include funding sources, conflicts of interest, previous publication or presentation details, and a statement that all authors approved the manuscript and consider it honest work if not provided elsewhere.
Abstract An abstract is required for Review Articles. The abstract must be 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured. The abstract must summarize the methods used for locating, selecting, extracting, and synthesizing data.
Manuscript The manuscript text must be up to 3000 words excluding tables, references, and abstract. The manuscript must include a section describing the methods used for locating, selecting, extracting, and synthesizing data. At least three keywords must be provided, and any use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies must be disclosed in the Methods or Acknowledgments section.
References Review Articles may have about 90 references. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited as superscript Arabic numerals in square brackets after punctuation marks.

Letter To The Editor

Cover Letter A signed covering letter by all contributors is required. The covering letter must state previous publication or presentation, sources of funding, conflicts of interest, and that all authors have read and approved the manuscript and believe it represents honest work.
Abstract Abstract requirements are not specified.
Manuscript Letter to the Editor submissions may contain up to 500 words. Letter to the Editor submissions should be short and decisive observations and preferably relate to articles previously published in the journal or views expressed in it.
References Letter to the Editor submissions may include up to 5 references. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited as Arabic numerals in superscript within square brackets after punctuation marks.
Figures & Tables Tables must be included at the end of the text after the references, while images must be uploaded as separate files and figure legends included at the end of the article file.
