Original Investigations
Cover Letter
Cover letter is required and must state that the paper is not under consideration elsewhere, that none of its contents have been previously published, that all authors have read and approved the manuscript, and disclose any potential conflicts of interest or explicitly state none. Cover letter must include the contribution of each author, specify the corresponding author, denote ethical approval, and may request expedited review with a rationale.
Abstract
Abstract is required. Abstract must be structured and must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must use the headings Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript
Manuscript must not exceed 5,000 words including text from the introduction through the conclusion, references, and figure legends. Text must be structured as Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions, and must include a study limitations section at the end of the Discussion. Manuscript must include Clinical Perspectives after the text and before the references, a Central Illustration with a title and 50 to 100 word legend, up to 6 keywords after the abstract, and a separate abbreviations list of up to 10 items following the abstract.
References
References must be numbered consecutively in order of first mention and cited in the text with numerals in parentheses, listing all authors if 6 or fewer or the first 3 followed by et al if more than 6.
Figures & Tables
There is no figure or table limit, and a Central Illustration is required. Figures and tables should be cited in numerical order in the text, with the Central Illustration legend listed first among figure legends unless it is an existing figure. Central Illustration must have a title of no more than 10 words and a combined title-and-caption legend of 50 to 100 words.

Manuscript
Manuscript must not exceed 10,000 words including text from the introduction to conclusion, references, and figure legends. Manuscript text should be structured as Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. Manuscript must include a Central Illustration and either Highlights or a Main Message, with 3 to 4 highlight bullets of no more than 15 words each that cover context or background, the main message and recommendations, and future directions.
References
References must be cited in numerical order, listed consecutively by order of mention, use numerals in parentheses in the text, list all authors if 6 or fewer or the first 3 followed by et al if more than 6, use Index Medicus journal abbreviations, and avoid personal communications, unpublished data, and abstracts older than 2 years.
Figures & Tables
There is no figure limit and no table limit, but a Central Illustration is required. The entire manuscript including tables should be uploaded as a Microsoft Word document. Central Illustration must include a title of no more than 10 words and a combined title and caption legend of 50 to 100 words, and its legend should appear first in the figure legends unless it is an existing figure.

Abstract
Short-form manuscripts do not require an abstract, whereas long-form manuscripts must include an abstract. For long-form manuscripts, the abstract must be no more than 150 words. For long-form manuscripts, the abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript
Short-form manuscripts must not exceed 2,000 words and long-form manuscripts must not exceed 10,000 words, in both cases including text from the introduction to conclusion, references, and figure legends. Short-form manuscripts must not use subheadings within the text. Primers In Cardio-Oncology require Highlights or Main Messages consisting of 3 to 4 brief bullets of no more than 15 words each, and long-form manuscripts must also include a Central Illustration while Clinical Perspectives are not required.
References
Short-form manuscripts may include no more than 10 references. References must be cited numerically in order of mention in the text, with all authors listed if 6 or fewer and otherwise the first 3 followed by et al.
