JMIR Human Factors is a multidisciplinary journal focused on redesigning health care and making health care interventions and technologies usable, safe, and effective. It publishes work on usability studies, heuristic evaluations, ergonomics, error prevention, medical devices, health care systems and workflows, teamwork training, nontechnical skills, and policies and procedures that reduce errors and increase safety. Reviews, viewpoint papers, tutorials, and original research are welcomed.

Cover Letter A cover letter must be submitted.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 450 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract headings must be Background, Objective, Methods, Results, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Main body text should aim for a maximum of 10,000 words. Main headings must follow IMRD: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion. The article type must be stated at the beginning of the manuscript just before the article title, and one figure in the Results section should typically be a flow diagram of the study selection.
References References must be formatted according to AMA style, 11th edition. References must be cited in square brackets in numerical order in the text and listed in matching numerical order at the end of the manuscript, with PMID or DOI included for journal references if available.
Figures & Tables Figures must remain embedded in the manuscript file during the initial review rounds and must also be uploaded separately as supplementary figure files. Separate figures must not be labeled as parts such as 1a and 1b, and if a figure is split into parts they must be combined into one figure labeled A, B, C, and so on.
