Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter must explain why the manuscript is suitable for publication and disclose any third-party writing or editing assistance or submission on behalf of the authors by a non-author.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured.
Manuscript Body of the manuscript should generally be no longer than 3,000 words. Manuscript should be organized under the headings Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, and References. At least 5 keywords must be listed after the abstract, and a section headed 'Statements and Declarations' must appear at the end of the article with each required subheading included and marked 'Not applicable' where relevant.
References References must follow the Sage Vancouver style. Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa, with identical spelling and year in both places.
Figures & Tables Figures must be provided and numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text.

Systematic Reviews

Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured. Abstract must be organized into no more than four subheadings.
Manuscript Systematic Reviews should generally be no longer than 3,000 words for the body of the work. Systematic Reviews must use subheadings within the article to highlight the content of different sections. Manuscript must list a minimum of 5 keywords after the abstract and include a 'Statements and Declarations' section at the end of the article.
References References must follow Sage Vancouver style. Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa, with identical spelling and year in both places.
Figures & Tables Lengthy tables and appendices can be placed in the online archive. Figures must be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text.

Abstract If provided, the abstract must be no more than 200 words. If provided, the abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Case Reports should be a maximum of 2,500 words. Case Reports must be written in narrative style with a short introduction, the case report including history, investigations and treatment, and a discussion referring to the relevant literature. At least 5 keywords must appear after the abstract, and a section headed 'Statements and Declarations' with all required subheadings must be included at the end of the article.
References References must follow Sage Vancouver style. Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa, with identical spelling and year in matching citations.
Figures & Tables Figures must be provided and numbered consecutively in the order they are cited in the text.
