Original Scholarship

Cover Letter Use of AI to generate content or assist with writing, translation, or manuscript preparation must be disclosed in the cover letter. The cover letter must disclose any use of AI to generate content or assist with writing, translation, or manuscript preparation.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. The abstract must be structured. The abstract must use the headings Context, Methods, Findings, and Conclusions.
Manuscript Manuscripts ordinarily should not exceed 30 pages of submitted text, excluding abstract, acknowledgments, figures, tables, and references. The manuscript must include Policy Points as a two-to-three bullet point synopsis of fewer than 100 words. The manuscript must be accompanied by up to eight keywords, must disclose AI use in the Methods or Acknowledgments section, and must not use endnotes or footnotes except in tables and figures.
References If accepted, references must be formatted according to AMA Manual of Style, 10th edition, with journal names abbreviated according to PubMed. References must be numbered consecutively in order of first citation, listed with all authors unless there are more than six in which case the first three are followed by "et al.," and cited in text, tables, and figures with superscript Arabic numerals.
Figures & Tables Tables and figures must be mentioned in the text, numbered consecutively in citation order, include titles, use separate legends for figures, and use superscript lowercase letters for footnotes.
