Original Articles

Cover Letter A cover letter is required at submission. If assisted technologies such as large language models, chatbots, or image creators were used, their use must be described in the cover letter.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 3,000 words, excluding the abstract, references, and illustrations. Manuscript must be organized as Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, and References, with subheadings allowed only in the Methods and Results sections. Artificial intelligence use must be disclosed in the manuscript, with data collection, analysis, or figure generation detailed in the Methods section when applicable and writing assistance acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.
References References must not exceed 40. References must be in Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of appearance, journal titles abbreviated according to Index Medicus, and references with more than six authors listed as the first six followed by et al.
Figures & Tables Illustrations must not exceed 8. All tables and figures must be numbered with Arabic numerals in order of appearance, tables and charts must carry titles at the top, legends must accompany illustrations, and all tables, charts, and figures must be in black and white.

Systematic Reviews With Meta-Analyses

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. If assisted technologies are used, the cover letter must describe their use.
Abstract A structured abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract must be structured.
Manuscript Main text must not exceed 4,000 words excluding the abstract, references, and illustrations. Keywords of three to six MeSH terms are required on the separate title page, and any use of assisted technologies must be disclosed in the manuscript with AI used for writing acknowledged and AI used for data collection, analysis, or figure generation detailed in the Methods section when applicable.
References References must not exceed 80. References must be in Vancouver style. References must be numbered consecutively in order of appearance, journal titles must follow Index Medicus abbreviations, and author lists must include all authors if there are six or fewer or the first six followed by et al. if there are more than six.
Figures & Tables There must be no more than 8 tables and/or illustrations. Tables and figures must be numbered with Arabic numerals in order of appearance, tables must have titles at the top, legends must accompany illustrations, and all tables, charts, and figures must be in black and white.

Brazilian Thoracic Association Guidelines And Consensus Statements

Cover Letter A cover letter is required at submission. Any use of assisted technologies must be described in the cover letter.
Abstract An abstract is mandatory. The abstract must be unstructured and no more than 250 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript The text, excluding the abstract, illustrations, and references, must not exceed 10,000 words. The topic must be developed as running text with themes separated by titles and subtitles. Three to six keywords in Portuguese and the corresponding keywords in English are required, with Portuguese terms taken from DeCS and English terms from MeSH, and any AI writing assistance must be acknowledged in the acknowledgments section.
References The manuscript may include no more than 250 references. References must follow JBP norms based on Vancouver style. References must be numbered in order of appearance in the text and presented as a single list at the end of the manuscript.
