The Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography is the official journal of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and is a peer-review journal focused on cardiovascular CT imaging. It publishes original research and clinical and technical work, along with reviews, case reports, viewpoints, practical tips, images and videos, guidelines, editorial commentaries, historical vignettes, society news, proceedings, and supplement issues for the international cardiovascular CT community.

Journal of cardiovascular computed tomography accepts the following article types. Click on an article type to view submission instructions.

Original Research

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. Cover letter should briefly state the study aim and main findings, explain fit with the journal’s scope, and emphasize novelty and broader implications.
Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract should be concise, factual, and unstructured.
Manuscript Original Research manuscripts must not exceed 4000 words all inclusive or 20 double-spaced typed pages in total. Articles must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. Original Research must include a table of contents summary of no more than 100 words, 5 to 10 keywords, declarations completed, and any generative AI use declared in a section before the references list.
References Original Research manuscripts may include up to 30 references. References must be cited using superscript Arabic numerals in order of appearance and listed numerically in that same order, with journal names abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Original Research manuscripts may include up to 8 figures and up to 4 tables. Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, and figures must be supplied as separate files. Tables must be editable text with captions, and all figures and tables must be cited and numbered consecutively in the manuscript.

Review Article

Cover Letter A cover letter is required. Cover letter should briefly state the study's aim and main findings, explain its fit with the journal's scope, and emphasize novelty and broader implications.
Abstract A brief abstract is required. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract should be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript should be approximately 4000 words all inclusive, including references, tables, and figures. Article must be divided into clearly defined and numbered sections. Manuscript must include a table of contents summary of no more than 100 words, 5 to 10 English keywords, a declaration of generative AI use in a section before the references when applicable, and completed declarations.
References References are limited to 30. References must be cited with superscript Arabic numerals in order of appearance and listed numerically in that same order, with journal names abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, and figures must be supplied as separate files. Tables must be editable text with captions and consecutive numbering, and figures must be cited in the text, submitted as separate files, and accompanied by captions.

Technical Report

Cover Letter A cover letter must be included with the submission. Cover letter should briefly state the study aim and main findings, explain fit with the journal’s scope, and emphasize novelty and broader implications.
Abstract Technical Reports should contain an abstract. Abstract must not exceed 250 words. Abstract should be concise and factual in unstructured form.
Manuscript Technical Reports have a strict 1500-word limit including the abstract, tables, and figure legends. Technical Reports should include a brief introduction and full methods and results sections. Manuscript must include a table of contents summary of no more than 100 words, provide 5 to 10 keywords, complete the declarations tool, and include an AI-use declaration section before the references if generative AI was used in manuscript preparation.
References Technical Reports may include up to 15 references. References must be cited as superscript Arabic numerals in order of appearance and listed numerically in that same order, with journal names abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Technical Reports may include a total of 3 figures. Tables must be placed next to the relevant text or on separate pages at the end of the article, while figures must be supplied as separate files along with the manuscript. Tables must be editable text with captions and figures must each have a caption and be cited in the manuscript text.

Case Report

Cover Letter A cover letter is required with the submission. Cover letter should briefly state the study aim and main findings, explain fit with the journal’s scope, and emphasize novelty and broader implications.
Abstract An abstract is not required for Case Reports.
Manuscript Case Reports must not exceed 400 words. Case Reports must contain concise statements on patient presentation and further management. Case Reports must include three multiple-choice questions pertinent to the case, each with five possible answers and one correct answer, and any use of generative AI in manuscript preparation must be declared in a new section before the references list.
References Case Reports may include no more than two references. References must be cited with superscript Arabic numerals in order of appearance and listed in the same numerical order, with journal names abbreviated according to LTWA.
Figures & Tables Figures must be supplied as separate files, while figure legends must not be provided separately for Case Reports and should instead be referred to and, if necessary, explained in the manuscript body. Case Reports require high-quality figures, and tables must be submitted as editable text rather than images.
