Cover Letter A cover letter is required. The cover letter must explain why the manuscript is suitable for publication and disclose any third-party writing or editing assistance or submission made by someone not listed as an author.
Abstract An abstract is required. The abstract must be at least 150 words. The abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Include 4-5 keywords after the abstract, an 'Author Contributions' heading after the acknowledgements, and a 'Statements and Declarations' section with all required subheadings on the title page.
References References must follow AMA style. Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa, with identical spelling and year in corresponding citations.
Figures & Tables Figures and images must be uploaded as submission files. Figures must be numbered consecutively in the order they are cited in the text.

Abstract An abstract is required. Abstract must be unstructured and at least 150 words long. Abstract must be unstructured.
Manuscript Manuscript must include the title, an unstructured abstract between the title and main body, clear heading levels, and an 'Author Contributions' heading followed by a 'Statements and Declarations' section on the title page. Manuscript must include a minimum of 4-5 keywords after the abstract, and the title page must include all required declaration subheadings with 'Not applicable' stated under any that do not apply.
References References must follow AMA style. Every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa, with identical spelling and year in corresponding citations.

Figures & Tables Brief Communications must have no more than 3 figures. Figures and images must be included as separate submission files. Figures must be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text.

Manuscript Letters unrelated to a specific article must not exceed 500 words, while letters about a recently published article or to be published concurrently with a journal article must not exceed 800 words. Letters to the Editor must be written in a professional tone and must not include research material.
References Letters unrelated to a specific article must not have more than 3 references, while letters about a recently published article or to be published concurrently with a journal article must not have more than 5 references. References must follow AMA style. All claims should be supported with references where appropriate, and every in-text citation must have a corresponding reference list entry and vice versa.
