Research Manuscripts

Cover Letter Cover Letter requirements are not specified.
Abstract Abstract is required because the manuscript word limit explicitly includes the abstract. Abstract must be fewer than 150 words. Abstract should include the sample size, study design, and source of the data.
Manuscript Research Manuscripts must be no more than 10,000 words inclusive of abstract, notes, references, tables, and figures. Text should begin on a new page headed by the full title and use major headings of Background, Data and Methods, Results or Findings, Discussion, and References, with no heading for the introduction. The anonymized title page must include the title, total word count excluding tables and figures, number of tables, number of figures, and a running head shorter than 55 characters including spaces.
References Text citations use author last name and year, indicating an author-date citation style. References must be listed in a separate REFERENCES section in alphabetical order by authors’ last names, include first names and middle initials for all authors, list all authors without using et al., and order multiple works by the same author by year.
Figures & Tables Notes, references, tables, figures, and appendices must appear in separate sections after the text in that order, and text notes must indicate table and figure placement. Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively, each table must appear on a separate page with a descriptive title, and each figure should include a title or caption.
